Dedicated to the memory of the late Brian Archer who fulfilled his dream to re-create John Sprinzel's Sebring Sprite Coupé

Andy Hide's Frogeye

Andy was a technician at the Frogeye Car Company on the Ise of Wight from 1994 to 1998 and owns this beautiful Frogeye Supersprite. It has a 1.6 K-Series engine and left the factory in 1997 with no windscreen or roof but only aero-screens for protection from the elements. In 1998 he bought a Coupé hardtop from Archers Garage which he fitted in such a way that it is removable!

At the Frogeye Car Company production of Sebrings was always 'a plan for the future' which unfortunately never happened before production stopped in 1998. He recalls that there was a set of Sebring moulds from which only a couple of shells were made. One of these was planned to be the prototype. All the other Isle of Wight Cars were Frogeyes, of which around a dozen had 1.4 K-Series engines and met Type Approval Regulations for sale in the UK. Andy's was the only 1.6 litre car and was a stripped out version. When the hardtop is in place it uses a Ford Fiesta rear wiper motor mounted in the roof.
